Many people tend to label things or situations. We are often asked, what cuisine we serve. The answer is always the same: simply, we want to offer great food. We travel the world in search of inspiration, because everywhere one may find something delicious. Thus, we are driven by love of food. We do not think of it as a job, but more as passion and knowledge. We merely want everyone to feel welcome and make each moment count.

MEET THE TEAM:


MARCIN LOREK – HEAD CHEF
 

He fell in love with food in his mum’s kitchen. He comes from Krzeszowice, a small town near Kraków, where he graduated gastronomical college. Shortly afterwards, he took his first job as a chef at ‘Elektor’ hotel. After a few years he moved on to ‘Amadeus’ hotel and then ‘Holiday Inn’ where he became Head Chef.  In the meantime he added to his experience working in various restaurants in the USA, Germany and Italy.  Having come back he took a position of Head Chef  at ‘Metropolitan’ restaurant in Kraków. In July 2008 he started his adventure with ‘Aperitif’.
A big football fan, spends most of his free time with his wife and son Kamil. And his favourite food are his wife’s creations.


JANUSZ SZANIAWSKI – GENERAL  MANAGER
 

When he was a child, his favourite play was helping his beloved granny in the kitchen.  During his academic years at university (International tourism and hospitality) he took a waiter’s job at ‘Chimera’ restaurant in Kraków. From then on he decided to develop within restaurant business. He worked a good few years for AmRest (a part of ‘Yum’ corporation) which gave solid foundations to his experience. A few years ago he moved to Newcastle upon Tyne where he helped open and manage Terry Laybourne’s brand new restaurant at luxurious Jesmond Dene House. After three years the restaurant was voted the best in Northern England and nominated to Top 10 in the UK.  Back to Poland in summer 2008 he decided to help create ‘Aperitif’.
In his free time he cooks for his friends and travels searching for new, restaurant pearls. A scuba diver, loves wine and spicy food.
